Kolhapur: Pride of Maharashtra





Kolhapur, the land of temples, is the religious pride of Maharashtra. Kolhapur, known as ‘Dakshin Kashi’ is one of the most prosperous and joyous city of India in Southern Maharashtra in western Ghats. Also termed as a city of palaces and gardens, it is a historic Maratha city.
Kolhapur was founded by Chhatrapati Tarabai, this princely state flourished under the reign of Chhatrapati’s of Kolhapur, especially under the legendry Rajarshi Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj and Rajaram Chhatrapati Maharaj.
The crowning glory of the district of Kolhapur is the Ambabai (Mahalakshmi) Temple, where pilgrims in millions come every year to seek her blessings. There is a strong belief after one worships Lord Balaji at Tirupati, offering prayer to goddess Mahalakshmi is essential to complete the  pilgrimage.
Kolhapur is mostly preferred place by travellers. The go to destination for types of travellers, be it family, kids and couples, Kolhapur is, however, mostly preferred.

There are large number of tourist places in Kolhapur, which can be explored by travellers. Local attractions can be visited at any time of the day, be it early morning, afternoon, evening or night, as suitable for travellers. By Road:-

The Maharashtra state buses let the tourists come to kolhapur city without any complexity. There are many private buses as well that you can get from here to reach different parts of the country at reasonable cost

By Rail:-

The Kolhapur railway station known as Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus is well linked with the major cities of the state as well as the adjoining states including Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, New Delhi and Ahmedabad. It makes it possible for all to reach the city with ease.

By Flight:-

If you are concerned about how to reach Kolhapur by air then do not think much on it as the city has an airport of its own located in Ujlaiwadi. The airport is well connected to the Mumbai International airport. Therefore, anyone can easily come to this place.
